Police Apathy Drives Indian Housewife Pooja Chauhan To Strip
Pooja Chauhan a hapless wife, daughter-in-law and mother was driven to strip down in a gesture which bespoke of aberrant helplessness, after repeated complaints to the Police accusing her husband and in laws of torture fell on deaf ears. Her fault: She gave birth to a baby daughter 8 months ago when her in laws desired a son. Also she refused to bring in more dowry as was being constantly demanded. A while ago she had tried to immolate herself in front of the Police headquarters but was reprimanded. Her frustration and sense of outrage at the apathy of the Police officials on one hand and the violation of her sense of self on the other at the hands of her in laws, led her to take this heterodox step. Breaking age old shackles of modesty she might have been ingrained with, discarding false notions of propriety she stripped herself to draw attention to her plight. Her angst though unspoken stridently conveyed her misery loud and clear!!
